About Kahana Canoe Club

unnamed 3.39.12 PM

Kahana Canoe Club was created in 1976 by the Naleieha Hui, a group of families who owned oceanfront land in Kahana on the beautiful island of Maui. It was the dream of Isabella Naleieha, the matriarch of the family, that the families might pull together in the face of modern development, social upheaval, and possible displacement by developing a canoe club that would provide an activity for all the family members that would also perpetuate her memories of how things were in older times.

Our mission is to strive to revive, develop, and perpetuate Hawaiian culture and traditions through instruction and training. We are located at Hanakao’o Beach (Canoe Beach) in Lahaina at the end of the park in the green hale. All ages are welcome.
